Battery Chickens
Having four Cockerels and only a few Chickens we needed to get some more girls after a few phone calls we were told that we could collect some from a battery farm , we were going to rescue ten but after seeing the state of them when they brought them out we knew we had to get as many as we could so we ended up with 57, that was all we could carry and it was very hard to stop there.
They were in such a state with hardly any feathers and in quite a state of shock having never seen daylight, let alone standing on hay, after only a short while back home safely in the barn and able to move freely they were eating and drinking happily. Next day they were roaming around outside ,sunbathing, scratching in the fields and laying eggs galore, its amazing just how quickly they become chickens again and not little egg laying robots.
We will post pictures of before and after photos as soon as we can just to see the differnce a couple of weeks can make.
